A Family Story
Hands in the soil and a choice renewed over time
A family, a land, and a simple idea: returning to one’s roots to build something lasting. Tenuta dell’Ugolino was born this way, among the hills of Castelplanio, from a gesture that gradually evolved into a shared project shaped by people, work, and the rhythm of the seasons.

The time of nature,
the peace of a refuge
Costantino
After a lifetime spent working in the oil industry, traveling across the world to places such as Kenya and Saudi Arabia, the connection to his farming roots gradually resurfaced. As retirement approached, the idea took shape: to return home and create a simple place where he could experience the countryside and rediscover a slower, more meaningful pace of life.
In the early 1980s, Costantino Petrini purchased a farmhouse with a small plot of land on the hills of Castelplanio, creating what would become the family’s “green refuge.”
It was here that the first chapter of Tenuta dell’Ugolino began: a 7,000-square-meter vineyard that marked the start of a story destined to grow into something much larger.

Today,
a shared vision

Andrea
Andrea oversees the work in both vineyard and winery, carefully observing every stage of the process—from winter pruning to grape ripening, all the way to selecting the ideal harvest date. Every intervention is measured and purposeful, helping guide the vine through its natural cycle and enhancing what each season has to offer.

Matteo
Alongside Andrea, Matteo is involved in the daily management of the estate, closely monitoring the vineyards and the most delicate phases of the growing season. From harvest planning to assessing grape development, he contributes to a shared effort built on observation, dialogue, and a constant presence among the vines.

Gabriele
After years spent working in restaurant kitchens, Gabriele joined the estate, bringing with him a thoughtful and sensitive perspective. Today he oversees fermentation and winery operations, guiding the transformation of grapes into wine. His work requires balance and precision, where every decision helps shape the identity of each vintage.
...and without forgetting

Gastone
Gastone is very much part of the family. A constant presence among the vineyards and the winery, he accompanies everyday life at the estate. A limited-edition wine has even been dedicated to him, celebrating a bond that goes beyond work and has become part of the winery’s own story.
